Film as Literature is an English elective for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. I am very excited to delve into the film industry with you! This course will explore the history of film and the impact that film and media have on society and individuals. It will explore themes such as Education and Empowerment, Strong vs. Weak, Relationships and Understanding, Gender Roles and Development, LGBTQ, Race, Culture, and Diversity, and Pivotal Moments that Change Lives. Smaller mini units that focus on topics such as suspense thrillers, war, remakes, and family dynamics will also be included.
There will be an independent movie assignment every five weeks in which you will be required to view a film and write a review. One of your movie reviews will focus on a film whose song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. |
