I can see both sides of the argument. On one hand, if a movie is popular and brings in a lot of money at the box office, it is more than likely that people enjoyed it, however, it does not necessarily mean that it was well acted, had a good script, was meaningful, etc. If I had to choose a side, I would say that the Academy was correct to eliminate the category because popularity and money making does not necessarily go hand in hand with merit.

I believe that they made the correct decision because the money always doesn’t matter. It all depends on if people like it and enjoy it. Some people may not agree. But I believe that it was the correct decision.

I think that they made the right choice eliminating it because like they said it would be more challenging to make a movie which means that they would have to do more work then needed as if they could just do what they wanted to do in a movie besides trying to hard about making better movies each time. BTW Idk if this is right so don't hate me.

I feel that the academy was right in removing the popular films category because it would have been hard to rate films that have already been released.

I believe that they made the correct decision because money shouldn’t matter when it comes to a movie. It should all depend on if people find it funny or enjoy it. It should be advertised well and people should show that they enjoyed it. I can also see both sides but I believe in the end that they made the correct decision.

I agree with the decision that they made to eliminate it because they would have to do more work then they would need to and every movie would be like that and it would get repetitive and boring.

I believe that deleting the popular category was a bad decision because we paid money to see the movie, so the people who saw the movie should get validation for paying 8 dollars to watch it.
